Dog: Bill Bunter (Boxer Red Brindle) – Lincoln, UK (Sep 9, 1999 – Feb 20, 2012)

We have just had our lovely boxer, Billy Bunter put to sleep today he came to live with us over 10 years ago when he was 2 years old and was my first dog

He was a big dog and given his name due to him being a very greedy pup! He had suffered for 5 years with arthritis and started having fits a year ago.

We watched him slowly get worse over the past year and sadly had to make the decision today to have him put to sleep as he no longer had much quality of life.

He will always be remembered – and now with his best friend Tevor the boxer. who died 2 years ago We will all miss you, especially your newest little friend Summer – night night Billy Bunter !

Dog: Peanut (Chihuahua) – Jacksonville, NC (Died Feb 02, 2012)

Peanut came into my life at a horrible point. I was recently divorced and had just moved and i needed something and I was given peanut. I didn’t get to have him long before he passed, but in the short time I had him he was the best thing to ever happen to me.

He loved everyone and was the biggest cuddle bug ever! Peanut loved laying on our shoulders and resting with us on cold days. He loved his nickname “Sir Chubbykins” and he loved his fave dog treats.

Peanut you were the greatest dog ever and you will forever be missed!
Rest easy momma’s baby.

Dog: Zoey Noel (Shih Tzu) – Jonesboro, AR (Oct 24, 2003 – Feb 08, 2012)

Zoey Noel came into my life at Christmas, 2003. She was a 2lb ball of fluff and energy. A brindle and white toy Shih Tzu that grew up to a 8lb bundle of happiness.

Every life that she touched she changed forever, just as she did ours from the very first day. She loved to play with her other brother and sisters, along with friends and family. She was a registered AKC dog, and was preceded in death by her mother, Ballard Pretty Princess and Father Bowsers Teddy.

She was the most loving dog, great companion and the most loyal person I knew. She was my best friend. Her legacy continues in the paw prints she has left behind for her siblings. Her memories will last a lifetime.

To call her just a dog hardly seems to do her justice, though inasmuch as she had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit she was, to all outward appearances. But to those who knew her well, she was a true princess, passionate for life and those that loved her most.

We will miss her everyday. She was daddy’s little girl. XOXO

Zoey, RIP in Bobo. For the soul of every living thing is in the hand of God. Job 12:10

Dog: Mary Kate (Died Feb 4, 2012)

Mary Kate entered my home and heart at the age of 6 mos. She was a guardian angel who provided love and comfort from the first day we met. As a pup, Mary Kate was a little ball of white fur who weighed approximately 2 lbs. She was fast and playful…providing hours of smiles and laughter.

As Mary Kate grew, she remained small …in fact, small enough to fit in a satchel. Humans were drawn to her cuteness – like when seeing her lick an ice-cream cone. Though small, her loud bark frightened the UPS and FED EX delivery persons! Indeed she was a feisty protector!

On Feb. 4, 2012, Mary Kate passed on after struggling with heart and kidney issues. She will be sorely missed. Her presence alone soothed the tired, aching soul and provided wonderful companionship.

Rest in peace little “girlfriend” –

Mommy loves you very much! xoxo

Dog: Bear (Jun 9, 2000 – Dec 19, 2011)

Bear left this life on Monday, December 19th, 6:39PM, after a brief illness. He passed quietly in his living room surrounded by friends and family, stroked and petted as he slipped away.

He was my first dog, a loving companion, a valued protector, a confidant, a friend. He was with me through the end of my work life, two major surgeries, and a drastic change in mobility. He always greeted me, even if I’d been gone mere seconds. He followed me in the house and guarded my bed every night.

He loved his daily rides. He loved his Tuesday walks, his visits with human friends Christine and Sharon, his weekly visits to the Dawg House, even his canine brother. He loved to play most evenings and was especially fond of squeaky toys.

He is preceded in death by Mary, who gave him to me at seven weeks, a palm-sized bundle of fluff, and my mother, Marie, who named him and dearly loved him, dearly loved both dogs.

He is survived by his human partner, Davis, his canine younger brother, Claude, and many friends of both species. He will be always missed and forever loved.

I’m Still Here

Friend, please don’t mourn for me
I’m still here, though you don’t see.
I’m right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I’m always near.
My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I’ll never wander out of your sight-
I’m the brightest star on a summer night.
I’ll never be beyond your reach-
I’m the warm moist sand when you’re at the beach.

I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I’m the beautiful flowers of which you’re so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I’m the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you’ll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there’s no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I’m the smile you see on a baby’s face.
Just look for me, friend, I’m everyplace!

Dog: Nunzio (Mastiff / Lab / Boxer / Rottweiler) – Edmonton, Alberta
(May 5, 1994 – Jan 25, 2012)

Our dog passed away January 25, 2012 after a developing cancer in the spleen. He was strong and sweet until he simply couldn’t walk anymore and the vet said it was his time.

Nunzio ‘Maddog’ McDonnell was a blend of Mastiff, Lab, Boxer, and Rottweiler. We got him as a pup, all fat and wrinkly. That was 8 years ago and during those years we grew to love him like no other. He was smart, strong, stubborn and sweet, with a friendly, lovable disposition. His big size and beautiful brindle coat make kids love him and Nunzio loved them right back.

He was happiest in the house with a nice cow ear or other special treat and would go into a happy trance when you scratched him just so. He was generous with kisses, and could be bribed into doing tricks for dad.

Nunzio you were more than we ever hoped for and gave us love and special memories each and every day. We love you so very much and will miss scratching you just right, rubbing your soft-as-butter ears, and sharing cuddles & kisses.

Thank you for being so absolutely perfect. You are well loved and much missed.

Keith, Denaige & Arcana McDonnell

Cat: Calleach – Gailes, Brisbane, Australia (Died Jan 25, 2012)

It’s been only a day since the passing of my beloved companion Calleach (pronounced Carly), named after the Celtic Goddess. She was a gift from a friend when only 6 weeks old and finally died aged 18 years and so time has come to say a reluctant farewell to a much loved companion.

She is sorely missed and survived by 2 daughters still in my company. She was definitely strong willed and took no guff from anyone. Not even the dog that robbed her of one of her eyes years ago. She was also a very loyal companion and totally trusting in me and those I was trusting in.

I miss all her little quirks and such. She loved to sleep with me on the bed many a night but lately had a spot in the yard she loved. She’s now buried at that spot in the back yard where I can commune with her daily. She would copy a certain gesture I used on her to wake me in the mornings.

I used to touch my fingers to my lips9ps and then hers. She’d do the same with me showing she understood it as a gesture of love. She’d also find her way onto my lap barely 30 seconds after I sat down often resulting in scratches if I either was getting up again or she misjudged her landing. God I miss that. She’d also often end up on my shoulder gingerly pawing at any food I was eating. Though she never took unless it was offered and I would normally offer. She wasn’t treated as a cat, rather as a daughter and an equal which is how I thought of her.

Never once was she treated harshly though she occasionally voiced her disapproval if I didn’t get up when she was trying to wake me, if I was getting up when she wanted to be on my lap, etc. And I’d generally give in to her.

She would often greet me a half block away from home when I came back from work., get her her pat and cuddle and eagerly walk beside me until we got home around 11:30pm. She’d also rather a cuddle than food when it came to the nitty gritty. I could put food down and offer a cuddle. She’d take the cuddle every time.

She was a great mum as well. Definitely had the motherly instinct and would never miss a moment with her kids. 2 of which are still with me.

All in all. Calleach, you are missed dearly. I couldn’t have asked for a better companion and you will always be in my heart. Farewell dearest Calleach. Thank you for the gift that was you. Thank you for the love we got to share. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. Thank you for just being you.

Thank you for the joy you brought into my life. Thank you for everything. I miss you so much. Thank you for letting me be there during your last hours. I may not know your exact birth date but I know you passed on on the 25th January 2012 at 2:20 am with me there holding you

Farewell Calleach my dearest. May you rest in peace. You’re always in my heart and thoughts.

Your loving companion

James, aka Daddy

Dog: Ellie (Dalmatian) – Canandaigua, NY (Sep 15, 1996 – Dec 29, 2011)

It’s been about 24 hours since our beloved dog has moved on. The house is very quite despite our six and eight year daughters.

The time has come for us to say good-bye to a family member who we lived and shared our life with for over fifteen years. Ellie was three and a half months old when we got her from Dalmatian Rescue in Rochester, New York.

She was with six or seven of her brothers and sisters. I whistled, and she came right over. I knew she was the one. Looking back, I guess she picked us. Over the years, Ellie has been a great dog who loved everyone she came in contact with.

She loved to go for rides in the car, walks, hikes, swimming at the lake. She just wanted to be with us at all times and for the most part she was. When I would cut the grass on the riding lawn mower, she would follow behind me. Her white paws would be stained green from the grass

By the time she was seven years old, she needed work on her knee. The following year, the other knee needed work just as the vet said it would. Both knees required rehab from us. She got through that but her endurance was not as it used to be and that was ok. She still was able to do the same things, just not as much.

As the years passed, she started to show her age. She still wanted nothing else but to be with us just as always. I told her to let me know when she was ready to move on and after Christmas 2011 she did. I could see it in her eyes. On December 29th 2011 fifteen years to the day we picked her up as a three and a half month old puppy, we said good-bye.

Ellie we miss you so much already. I know that with each passing day it will get easier. We will never forget you and thank you for being such a great dog. One day we will meet up with you again.

We will always love you Ellie,
