Cat: Stimpy – Australia

Cat Stimpy

Stimpy was the most amazing cat that has ever owned me!

He was 12 years old when I sadly had to make the decision to say good bye to my old friend. He was a manx and everybody that met him loved him (and were also secretly a bit scared of him as well) including me! He had a bit of an attitude our Stimps!

Stimpy was a tiny little ball of fluff when we bought him home, but he soon grew and grew and grew! In his prime he was nearly 8 kilo’s! I have always had a curfew on my cats and never let them out after dark but some how Stimpy found a way out sometimes. I pitty the poor pusses that came up against him. I spent many hours at night calling him and waiting, and here the horrific fights he got into.

When he was about 6 years old he was sound asleep under the car when my partner drove out, he had his head under the wheel! I heard a huge yowl and raced out, Stimpy was a mess with blood everywhere, We raced to the vet and 2 days later with a broken jaw and a few missing teeth he was home again.

When we moved I would fret and worry about him (he moved 4 times) But after a week or so he would be settled.

Our last move together was to a property on 10 acres, after living with neighbours all his life.
I carried him around the property and we met the horses next door! Big scratch down my neck for that one! Then we met the resident wallabies. He would look and the look away as if they weren’t really there. They cant’ be real mum surely.

Anyway he had been here about 5 months and loved the place it was like a retirement home and he just chilled out and lazed around. But somehow he managed to get into a fight ( a feral cat maybe) and developed a huge sore on his face. The vet while he was cleaning up his wounds ran some tests and found that Stimpy had Kidney disease. He was put on a special diet and thrived.

After about 5 months of going through a second kittenhood, of chasing wallabies and scaring of a fox from the chook shed my brave Stimpy just got sicker and sicker.

I went out one morning and he was sitting under the sprinkler drenched. I had to make the hardest decision in my life and take him to the vet.
I miss him dearly and will always love him.
